Batman

so rania and I went to The Dark Knight the other day and i thought it would be another movie with left leaning undertones (i.e. the Golden Compass) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Golden_Compass_%28film%29 go to that link to read about it and the controversies. but to my suprise it didnt. it did closely parallel what is going on with the Bush Administration right now though. heres a summary:
first of all the Joker and his followers arent refered to as henchmen or criminals in the movie but terrorists. the population in Gotham (about 50% of the US citizens and the liberal left) gets pretty peeved about the way Batman is handling the terrorists. he seems to be playing by his own rules (the USA Patriot Act) since that is waht the Joker is doing (al-qaeda and non-enemy combatants strapping bombs to their chests and killing innocent US civilians). Batman is forced to use all the cell phones in the city to locate the Joker (wiretaps have been a problem Bush has had to deal with). Batman is helped by Morgan Freeman who runs his Waynes Ent. company but who leaves after helping batman cause he cant be apart of this "wiretaping." this is not unlike Scott McClellan who was Bushs spokesman for a number of years who only a few months ago left his post at the White House and denounced the Administration and then wrote a book about it (all for money in my opinion). midway through the movie the joker even sets up a bomb plot in which 2 people are tied to bombs and they are both set to go off at the same time. the scene begins when Batman is in the interogation room (Guantanamo Bay Cuba) with Joker and the joker tells him about the plot. this is just like the argument for torture that has been and is being discussed everywhere. the argument is called the ticking time bomb argument. it says that if there was time bomb set to go off and you had someone who knew where it was at and how to stop it would you torture them to het the info to save lives? of course. anyway thats the argument.
the movie by itself was the best of the last couple years in think and it made it even better for me with the parallels that were present just under its surface.

Craigs not allowed to eat cheese at night anymore.

My dog Girl sleeps in the bed with us Every single night, and has since we got her last year. She sleeps in between Craig and I, under the covers and pokes her head out to share my pillow. So this morning at like 2 am, I'm startled awake by Craig, who is sitting up on his knees facing the headboard and staring down at me, but not looking at ME, but at my pillow... and he says slowly and dramatically "Oh Myyy Goshhh!" And Im freaking out, thinking theres something on my pillow, like a scorpion or something. So Im freaking out, til he says. "Why is there a dog in our bed?" I realize then that he is sleepwalking, and thankfully theres no scorpion. But he sure doesnt recognize Girl. He keeps saying stuff like "What IS that? Why is there a DOG in our bed!" Now, I have heard before that its dangerous to wake someone who is sleep walking because it can startle them and make them become violent, so Im scared because I dont want him to wake up but he keeps freaking out about this dog being in our bed! So I say "I put her here." He says "Where did she come from?" I say "Outside. I brought her in." And at this point it looks like he may be coming to a little bit, but he's seriously groggy and confused. "Why would you bring a dog into our bed?!.....Oh yeah, like Guy?" I say yes, she's our dog, like Guy." And Im terrified that he's going to hurt girl, so I say "do you want me to put her somewhere else?" But he's slowly figuring things out, and says "No" and starts to lay back down to go to sleep and asks me "So theres nothing strange or weird about her being in our bed?" and I assure him that no, everythings fine and to go back to sleep. It was kinda scary just because he was acting like he didnt recognize the dog and didnt know why it was in our bed, and I heard people can become violent if woken, but today it was funny.

I had nightmares the rest of the night about it though. And at 7 when my alarm went off I was so tired, that I set it for 8 instead but Craig heard it and jumped out of bed and told me to hurry and get up because we had to go 'get the sound.' And yes, he was sleepwalking again, because he has NEVER jumped out of bed so quickly when the alarm goes off. So I said, "Ok, but come lay down for a second." He said "OK" like it was a great idea. He laid back down and was snoring the next second.

And thats why Craig is not allowed to eat cheese late at night anymore.
