Craig and I went to Caden Ash's wedding reception tonight. It was held at Aunt Tressa's new gigantic beautiful house, and all her kids were there. Carol and her husband, Tristan with her 4 boys, Whitney who is 8 and a half months pregnant, Taylor with her new 7 week old baby boy, Logan who lives there, and Tate back from BYU. Caden looked so beautiful and so happy, her and her new husband are leaving tomorrow for the Dominican Republic for a week. The theme was 'from China to eternity' and I had no idea what it meant til I asked...Caden and her husband met while they were both in China teaching English as a summer program at BYU-I. Cool. Grandma Don was there with Aunt Marcia and Aunt Robyn, who I hadnt seen in almost forever!! It was great to see them again, and they asked about all of you guys! I told them what I know, which isnt much LOL! I guess we didnt need to spend all evening catching up, since we'll see them again pretty soon...We are coming up to Washington for a month!!!! Get ready for us! We'll see you all Wednesday! Except you Clint and Rania, we'll see you Monday night!

Hi Family! You know how we all have our 'baby books?' Well after Craig saw mine, he mentioned that he had rarely seen pictures of himself as a baby/kid, and didn't have a single one. Well I always hoped we'd come across some, and the other day, his grandma who lives a couple of miles away made mention that she's going through all her old photo albums and giving away pictures to those who she thinks would appreciate them. Her husband recently died and he had many pictures that were just thrown away, and she's afraid that will happen to her things, so she's going through them and giving them to those who will appreciate them. I told her about Craig, and if she came across any, to set them aside for me. Well yesterday Craig and I went over to her house, Craig to help her with a computer problem and while I was there, I went through a couple of cupboards FULL of photo albums! And I was SOOO happy to find about 50 pictures, of Craig and his parents before they divorced. So I took them, and got them scanned today to preserve them. Here are a few that I thought were fun.

The first couple are of Craig and his mom, Marissa. She had him when she was 19. And he and his grandparents, the grandma being the one who lives not far from us, and his Grandpa Max who passed away about 9 years ago. They were super close, he was instrumental in getting Craig to go to church and eventually on a mission, and Craig is planning on naming his first son after him! :) The other pics are from some petting zoo event, in his yellow collared shirt...he's holding a goat in one....on a tree house his dad built for him, and the one in the red shirt, he's at an NBC Christmas party, and yes, he has a mullet!!!! LOLOL!!! Just thought I'd share! I am SO happy to have these! Im planning on going back this week sometime to go through more photo albums. I hope there are more!!!

Ninja is Going to Kill you!

Here's our cute kitten who has doubled in size since we got him...he really is a ninja, hiding in dark corners, pouncing on your toes as soon as they poke out of the covers, and practicing martial arts all day. I'll try to get a video up of that as soon as I can get my dang camera fixed!

OMG A Black Widow!!!

Looky here! I was going to put Guy outside the other day and when I opened the door I was greeted by a huge black widow staring back at me. It was on its web that was from the grill to the ground at an angle, and it was belly side up, so I immediately saw the red hourglass. It could have easily gotten into the house! Unfortunately I couldnt get a very clear picture of it. Then Craig killed it. Good thing it was in such plain view because Guy likes to play with bugs and Black Widows can be deadly to little chihuahuas! So heres the diagram I made of what happened. Kitten Update

Uh...so its not a girl. We had been calling her Penelope, but when we took her to the vet today they said it was a boy. So his name is Ninja. He's about 12 weeks old. The vet said that if he was someones pet, they werent taking very good care of him. So we got him meds for his eyes and got him wormed or dewormed or whatever. So he's happy and healthy! Yay!

Look what the dogs dragged (drug?) in!

Tonight (Sunday) I took the dogs out for a walk about 7:30 when it was just getting dark and took them to the park really quick so they could get some energy out before going to bed. I let them off their leashes and they sprint back and forth through the park and I run after them making sure they dont go into the road. (Its safe) Anyway, a kitten was out walking and the dogs immediately ran to it. I panicked because the last time they saw a cat they chased it through a sewer pipe. But the kitten just stayed there and got sniffed. So I picked it up, and it had gooey eyes and a crusty nose, and I thought it might be abandoned. (Who lets their kitten roam the neighborhood at night?) And it was about to storm, so we went home and it wolfed down some food and water, and has been just chillin ever since. Im taking her (Its a girl) to the vet tomorrow to make sure she's not sick and to find out how old she is and everything....get her shots if she needs them. I posted an ad on Craigslist for anyone who is missing a kitten in my area and in 5 hours I have 0 responses. I'll repost tomorrow....so if we dont find an owner, what do you think? Should we keep her? Or should we give her away? She's really sweet and playful, she's not a nasty cat at all. Right now she's sleeping on my keyboard and its making it hard to type....should we keep her????? Reply with your answer! Thanks!

Mount Rainier Climb

Travis and I went to climb Mount Rainier last weekend and here are a couple of pictures from the climb. The weather was perfect, my water froze in my backpack bladder tube, and we didnt get lost!! We didnt go all the way to the top, but we did hike a little beyond camp Muir (where climbers stay the night before they push for the summit) which is at 10,188 feet above sea level. Enjoy!

so rania and I went to The Dark Knight the other day and i thought it would be another movie with left leaning undertones (i.e. the Golden Compass) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Golden_Compass_%28film%29 go to that link to read about it and the controversies. but to my suprise it didnt. it did closely parallel what is going on with the Bush Administration right now though. heres a summary:
first of all the Joker and his followers arent refered to as henchmen or criminals in the movie but terrorists. the population in Gotham (about 50% of the US citizens and the liberal left) gets pretty peeved about the way Batman is handling the terrorists. he seems to be playing by his own rules (the USA Patriot Act) since that is waht the Joker is doing (al-qaeda and non-enemy combatants strapping bombs to their chests and killing innocent US civilians). Batman is forced to use all the cell phones in the city to locate the Joker (wiretaps have been a problem Bush has had to deal with). Batman is helped by Morgan Freeman who runs his Waynes Ent. company but who leaves after helping batman cause he cant be apart of this "wiretaping." this is not unlike Scott McClellan who was Bushs spokesman for a number of years who only a few months ago left his post at the White House and denounced the Administration and then wrote a book about it (all for money in my opinion). midway through the movie the joker even sets up a bomb plot in which 2 people are tied to bombs and they are both set to go off at the same time. the scene begins when Batman is in the interogation room (Guantanamo Bay Cuba) with Joker and the joker tells him about the plot. this is just like the argument for torture that has been and is being discussed everywhere. the argument is called the ticking time bomb argument. it says that if there was time bomb set to go off and you had someone who knew where it was at and how to stop it would you torture them to het the info to save lives? of course. anyway thats the argument.
the movie by itself was the best of the last couple years in think and it made it even better for me with the parallels that were present just under its surface.

Craigs not allowed to eat cheese at night anymore.

My dog Girl sleeps in the bed with us Every single night, and has since we got her last year. She sleeps in between Craig and I, under the covers and pokes her head out to share my pillow. So this morning at like 2 am, I'm startled awake by Craig, who is sitting up on his knees facing the headboard and staring down at me, but not looking at ME, but at my pillow... and he says slowly and dramatically "Oh Myyy Goshhh!" And Im freaking out, thinking theres something on my pillow, like a scorpion or something. So Im freaking out, til he says. "Why is there a dog in our bed?" I realize then that he is sleepwalking, and thankfully theres no scorpion. But he sure doesnt recognize Girl. He keeps saying stuff like "What IS that? Why is there a DOG in our bed!" Now, I have heard before that its dangerous to wake someone who is sleep walking because it can startle them and make them become violent, so Im scared because I dont want him to wake up but he keeps freaking out about this dog being in our bed! So I say "I put her here." He says "Where did she come from?" I say "Outside. I brought her in." And at this point it looks like he may be coming to a little bit, but he's seriously groggy and confused. "Why would you bring a dog into our bed?!.....Oh yeah, like Guy?" I say yes, she's our dog, like Guy." And Im terrified that he's going to hurt girl, so I say "do you want me to put her somewhere else?" But he's slowly figuring things out, and says "No" and starts to lay back down to go to sleep and asks me "So theres nothing strange or weird about her being in our bed?" and I assure him that no, everythings fine and to go back to sleep. It was kinda scary just because he was acting like he didnt recognize the dog and didnt know why it was in our bed, and I heard people can become violent if woken, but today it was funny.

I had nightmares the rest of the night about it though. And at 7 when my alarm went off I was so tired, that I set it for 8 instead but Craig heard it and jumped out of bed and told me to hurry and get up because we had to go 'get the sound.' He laid back down and was snoring the next second.

Just thought this was funny, wanted to tell you. Craig has a buddy that he's been playing phone tag with lately, and he tried calling tonight but got his voicemail. So instead of just leaving a voicemail, he sends a text message that says "You sound gay on your answering machine." and presses send. Come to find out, instead of sending it to his buddy like he thought, he accidentally sent it to the Elder's Quorum President in our ward, who was in his phone...it said it didnt go through, due to it being a land line. Phew! Thank goodness! Uh oh...then came a text message to him that said "Text to Landline successfully sent." Which he didnt even know it could do! So apparently it left that message on the EQP's answering machine at home! He promptly called the EQP and told him that if he gets a message from him on his answering machine soon, that he's sorry that its kinda inappropriate and that it wasnt intended for him! LOL! I was busting up laughing when he made the call...because he was very serious, and even told him what it said....sooooo hilarious! Im glad it wasnt any more inappropriate than that!

Little Lolie

Here is a cute pic of Miss Lo I took the other day that I wanted to share!! She is getting so big, and is getting into everything!! She is also really starting to develop her own little personality, and actually has started to vocalize it when she wants something a certain way! If Im drinking a smoothie while feeding her her food she yells at me til I share my smoothie! Think she gets it from her big Sis? : ) She has also learned to say "Mamma" and will say it over and over as loud as she can! I know no one probably cares, but I thought this was cute. Girl is spooning Guy. Aww!

Craigs nasty toe a few hours after surgery. It reminds me of Bozo the Clown. I sat through the entire procedure, oh man it was so sick! Speaking of sick, Craig had a touch of the flu when we went in, and we were just expecting an initial check up, and to maybe schedule a time for the 'surgery.' But the doctor said we could do it that same day. So Craig was already sick, and that sure didnt help him at all. The Doctor was super duper friendly, and Craig told him that if he wasnt such a friendly guy, he'd hate the guys guts right now. It was funny. I took him to McDonalds for an ice cream cone afterward, and he felt better. His last checkup is on Wednesday.

I tried getting a picture of them, but Craig likes to hide when I try to take his picture. Anyway, this is our neighbor's adopted little girl, Nayeli, Naya for short, and she is the cutest little baby. Whenever we go over to their house, we always have to go before 7, because that is when Naya goes to bed, and Craig has to see her. She is so lovable, but I think he likes her so much because besides her mom, she doesnt like to go to anyone else, except Craig! Not even her dad, lol! Whenever we come in, she cries for him, and just snuggles up into his chest. Aww! They're BFFs. Naya's mom was singing in church the week before last, and she asked if we could sit close to them so that he could hold Naya while she sang, otherwise she would cry for her mom. We sat by her poor grandma, who tried to get her to sit with her, but she didnt want to sit anyone else! We are babysitting her and her brother tomorrow for a few hours.

Maggie was in town to see her fiance, and we all went out to dinner, it was the weekend after my birthday, and so we celebrated. Maggie took this picture!

Sedona Trip!

K. This is from when we went on 'vacation' to Sedona. Its like 2 1/2 miles away. It took us probably an hour and a half to get out of Phoenix, so it felt like it only took an hour. It was great. The first picture is the view we had from just stepping out of our little Casita that we stayed at.

The second is the view from the terrace that we ate dinner at. Its this little shopping area, with gardens and such, we ate on the deck of this restaurant, and it had a long bar type seating, but this is your view. Very pretty at night.

Then we went back and slept....except that the casita we were staying at was attached to a workshop. And it was kinda scary because the door from the casita to the workshop didnt lock, and we were kinda freaked out. In the dark, late at night (everyone there goes to bed at like 9) it looked like a torture chamber...and we started getting scared. So Craig looked up crime stats on the laptop, and we found out that the crime rate is so low, there hadnt been a murder there for like 25 years or something, so we felt a little better. It was windy out, and we kept 'hearing' things, and Craig would bravely go check it out.

We were obviously just fine, but in the morning (VERY early while Craig was still sleeping) I took the dogs out to pee and enjoy the morning. And thats when I saw the CEMETERY! Yes, right next to us! Theres some pictures of it. In one of the pics, you see a headstone that says John Lay, and just behind it you see a red roof...thats where we stayed. So it was literally like next door, and as you can see, it looks a little....um....homemade....its not a real city owned cemetery. It wasnt very big, but definitely creepy!

The rest of the trip was fun, the dogs got these new harnesses (that they're wearing) from the gourmet three dog bakery. We ate at a raw food restaurant for lunch, which was much better than the italian restuarant we went to for dinner...we did some hiking, but Craig's big toe started hurting him (which we later found out was a nasty ingrown toenail) and shopped around. There were art shows in town.

We hope to go back there to Slide Rock National Park, which is about 20 minutes farther, and do some more hiking, when Craigs toe heals. He got it all cut out while I watched and held his hand, and it was seriously the most disgusting thing I have ever watched. I should have recorded it for you all to see! Haha. Anyway, it was fun, creepy, adventurous, and all in all, we want to go back, and we'll probably stay in the same place...
